Audit Director

Our client is a leading fortune 1000 firm based in New York City and they have an immediate opening for an Audit Director.  This senior level position will be responsible for the following:

·        Obtain a complete understanding of the firm�??s businesses and shared services functions along with the company culture.  

·        Develop, execute and continuously improve the integrated internal audit plan encompassing operational, technology, financial and SOX 404 compliance activities in accordance with departmental and Institute of Internal Auditors standards. 

·        Assist the Head of Internal Audit to define and update the annual and long-range internal audit plans based on annual assessment of operational, financial and compliance risks and to develop presentations to senior management and the Audit Committee. 

·        Drive the completion of core activities including internal audits, special projects and SOX internal control processes as detailed below. 

o   Continually obtain a deep understanding of business, financial and regulatory areas to identify and assess risk. 

o   Approve the planning and communication of the detailed internal audit scope each year and for each audit, special project, and the SOX internal control programs.On each engagement, direct planning, execution and reporting.  

o   Manage all aspects of communication with auditees which include our preliminary understanding of their business, audit findings on processes not meeting objectives and formal reporting.  

o   Meet with all levels of auditee management team to understand key activities and changes in the environment.  

o   Ensure completion of audits and SOX internal control activities and special projects by stated due dates and budgets.  

o   Update Internal Audit policies and procedures based on process improvements, changes within the profession, regulatory changes, etc.  

o   Lead and develop the team of 15 Managers, Seniors and Staff (e.g., training, mentoring, coaching, performance evaluations, etc.) and 3rd party professionals (specialists) with varying backgrounds (e.g., Financial, IT, public accounting, private industry, etc.) in completing the internal audit activities. 

o   Provide formal training to the team on internal audit standards, business processes, etc.

REQUIREMENTS:

·        Seen as the go to person within internal audit function and across a company. 

·        Bachelor's degree in Accounting with approximately 10+ years of relevant audit experience. 

·        A Certified Public Accountant (�??CPA�?�) with a combination of Big 4 accounting firm and private industry experience is required.   An MBA is preferred. 

·        Working knowledge of GAAP and information technology systems.Experience working in a global organization, interacting with all levels of management across all disciplines. 

·        A proven track record in managing a variety of assignments and experience with implementing and executing against the Sarbanes Oxley Act. 

·        Ability to work independently and �??roll up their sleeves�?� in a fast paced environment. 

·        Ability to project manage within our function and across the company, while multi-tasking. 

·        Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills are required.   This includes an ability to write and verbally communicate at the senior management level in a formal and ad hoc setting. 

·        Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Office suite are required - experience using PeopleSoft financial systems is highly desirable.

Compensation is $175k to $190k + Bonus.
